HCP-2008 SCOPE
We are in a rapidly changing environment and reliable and sustainable systems are processes that are able to maintain their integrity, efficiency and adaptability in such environments. If automation has been increasingly promoted amongst such information and control systems, it has been also proven that human components remained a necessary and efficient element of the system especially in taking into account aspeects as sustainability, reliability, complexity and even ethics issues. We need therefore a better understanding of choices and implementations of effective solutions for processes with which humans interact in many different contexts.
This third conference is in the line of the series of Human Centered Processes conferences held previously at Brest (France, 1999) and in Luxembourg (2003) under the umbrella of the EURO Working Group Human Centered Processes. The first HCP conference was mainly devoted to the application of cognitive approaches in various fields of process control and other complex industrial problems usually managed by Operational researchers. The second HCP conference was dedicated to distributed decision and man-machine cooperation. Both of these conferences put special emphasis upon cognitive models of decision making.
This third HCP will hold this course while proposing a focus on the sustainability and the situatedness of Human Centered Processes in environments evolving dynamically. This challenging topic will be considered from a large spectrum of disciplines (and all their declensions) like:
Decision making, Articial Intelligence, Human-machine interaction, Context management, Learning, Cognitive Ergonomics, Natural Language Processing, Design, Business, Intelligent systems, Safety Applications, etc.
HCP-2008 will be a platform with a plenary interdisciplinary conference, tutorials, workshops, doctoral consortium, poster and demo sessions in order to associate a shared interest across disciplines and flavor discussions on specific problems in disciplines.
HCP-2008 SUBMISSIONS
The Proceedings of the Conference will be published by an international publisher. The Proceedings will contain long papers (14 pages) of the communications at the conference and short papers (5 pages) that will be presented during poster sessions at the conference. Proceedings of the workshops will be under the responsibility of the Workshop Chairs but publish in a place with ISBN like CEUR.org. The registration fee will cover the conference and workshops in order to impulse interaction among all the participants. After the conference, and according to the quality of the papers, extended versions of selected papers will be sollicited for different special issues in different journals or reviews, such as European Journal of Operational Research, The Knowledge Engineering Review, Journal of Decision Systems, etc.
